iPad application user experience discussions

To me the, the point about the joys of discovery is fine if we’re talking about a game, but not for functional applications where the interaction is only there to get you to the content.
Because each application publisher has it’s own interface, the user is expected to learn something new every time. No thanks! Just use the web you dumb bastards! The user wants the content, not your bullocks interaction.
Jacob is right for most cases: There should be more consistency. These apps make me feel like we’ve gone 15 years backwards.
But with games the whole experience is different, because the game is ALL interaction and zero content.
