Jacob rags on iPad apps

I totally sympathise with the points about return to the old days of Mosaic, image maps, and total confusion about what’s clickable. And I find it completely stunning that we’re even having to re-raise points about “Support[ing] standard navigation, including a Back feature, search, clickable headlines, and a homepage for most apps.”… Um, der!
However, I don’t buy Nielsen’s suggestions that iPad apps are inherently better than websites on an iPad. Sounds to me like he’s confusing correlation with causality. The reality is just that there’s still a lot of crappy web design out there, and this issue becomes exacerbated on a touchscreen device because everywhere is active.
